Privacy Notice for the survey participants





This research is conducted in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation EU 2016/679).

Article 9, about the processing of special categories of personal data, says: “Processing of personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, or trade union membership, and the processing of genetic data, biometric data for the purpose of uniquely identifying a natural person, data concerning health or data concerning a natural person’s sex life or sexual orientation” is allowed if “necessary for archiving purposes in the public interest, scientific or historical research purposes or statistical purposes in accordance with Article 89(1) based on Union or Member State law which shall be proportionate to the aim pursued, respect the essence of the right to data protection and provide for suitable and specific measures to safeguard the fundamental rights and the interests of the data subject”.




The data subject has to consent in an unequivocal manner to processing of his or her personal data. The data subject shall have the right to withdraw his or her consent at any time (art. 7). Respondents are allowed to selectively refuse to answer questions about a specific category of “sensitive” data.

Collected data will be subjected to pseudonymization  and treated in an aggregate manner; all information that can allow third parties to identify participants will be removed.
In the same way, no result or product of this research will allow the identification of the respondents. The aggregated data will be kept for a period of 2 years (2020-2022) and will be used exclusively for the purposes of the international research project RelEP, coordinated by the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB).
